Kmart #9123 first opened as Grant's in the late 1960s/early 1970s. In December 1975 a liquidation of Grant's started (however, this was before the whole chain went under). Like it did with many other former Grant's stores, Kmart opened a store here. Due to this store's early closing as Grant's, it also reopened before the bulk of the other Grant's stores as Kmart. This happened on May 6, 1976. In January 2018, along with 102 other Sears and Kmart stores, this store was placed on the chopping block, closing in April of that year. In 2021, AutoZone and Tractor Supply Co. opened in the former Kmart space.

The only remnants of Grant's/Kmart are in the left portion of the building.

It's the end for Sears in Pennsylvania

The Key West, FL Kmart, and the Willow Grove, PA Sears are closing.

My experience with Sears may be at its end. The Willow Grove store is the last full-line Sears in my home state of Pennsylvania.

Game over for Kmart in Hamilton

After 34 years, the vintage Kmart in Hamilton, Montana will be closing on March 6. This store was the last Kmart in the west, and its closure will reduce the number of Kmarts remaining on the US mainland to just five, eleven overall.

Dover's Kmart, at 515 N. DuPont Highway, opened on August 22, 1974, as the first of two Kmart stores in Southern Delaware (the second, in Rehoboth Beach, didn't arrive until 1995). In April 2014, it was confirmed that this store would be closing, becoming the second Delawarean Kmart store to close (following the Prices Corner store which closed in 2003). Just under 40 years after it opened, Dover's Kmart closed in July 2014 and was replaced by Burlington and Big Lots in 2016.
