SEARS #2254 Opened:  1966 Closed:  2015 Address:  1301 Quentin Rd Photographed:  February 2022 Sears #2254, the replacement for original store #5824 in downtown Lebanon, opened in February 1966 as part of the then-enclosed Lebanon Plaza Mall. Despite the mall being converted to a power center later on, Sears continued to operate here until January 2015, when it closed. It sat vacant for just over two years until Ulta Beauty and Maurices opened in part of the former store. In June 2018, Harbor Freight tools opened in the remaining portion of the building. Sears #1354 - Willow Grove, PA

Image
SEARS #1354 Opened:  1987 Closed:  2022 Address:  2500 W. Moreland Rd Photographed:  February 2022 The last Sears in Pennsylvania. Is closed. First opened in 1987, replacing B. Altman at the Willow Grove Park Mall, Sears' Willow Grove store outlived the other two stores to make it through 2020 (Media & Harrisburg). Likely due to dismal 2021 Christmas sales, in January 2022, this store made its way onto the chopping block, and closed on March 6, 2022. In 2016, this was one of several Sears stores to lease some of its space to Irish-based discount clothing store Primark. Formerly a three-level store, Sears #1354 was down to just one level in its final years. Photo by joshaustin610 on Flickr

Sears #1853 - Wilmington, DE

Image
SEARS #1853 Opened:  1992 Closed:  2020 Address:  4737 Concord Pike Photographed:  December 2021 Sears #1853 opened on September 22, 1992. This is one of the few cases of a Sears relocation. The store was originally located at 4601 N. Market St. The land housing the replacement Sears was originally an Almart, which was constructed in 1965, before closing and becoming a Jefferson Ward in 1984. It was later converted to a Bradlees, which was later demolished for Sears. After the closure of Sears' Dover store in August 2018, this became the chain's last Delawarean store, although it sadly closed in April 2020. SEARS #1864 Opened:  1981 Closed:  2017 Address:  126 Shawan Rd Photographed:  December 2021 Sears' Hunt Valley store, the lone remnant of the former Hunt Valley Mall, opened on September 17, 1981 with the mall. In 2000, after suffering competition from other malls nearby, the Hunt Valley Mall admitted defeat and was, except for the anchors, demolished. In 2003, a new outdoor shopping mall, the Hunt Valley Towne Center, was built, adding on to the Sears and former Macy's buildings. Sears Holdings announced the Cockeysville store's closure on June 22, 2017, and it closed in September. On October 21, 2018, HomeGoods opened a new store in about half of the bottom level of the former Sears, and was followed in March 2019 by a Michaels store, right next door. In December 2020, Ashley Furniture opened a HomeStore in a large part of the second level of the former Sears. In February 2021, it was announced that a fourth and final replacement store, OneLife Fitness, would be b...

Sears #2664 - Frederick, MD

Image
SEARS #2664 Opened:  1978 Address:  5500 Buckeystown Pike Photographed:  September 2021 Welcome to the last Sears in Maryland. Sears #2664 in Frederick, Maryland opened in July 1978 with the rest of the Francis Scott Key Mall. Following the closure of Sears #1013, Glen Burnie (2020), and #1304, Silver Spring (April 2021), this became the chain's last store in Maryland. As of September 2021, the store is open as one of seven anchors at the Francis Scott Key Mall. This "fitting rooms" sign is the lone remnant from the Lands' End store-in-store. Sadly, none of this store's price checks were working.
