It's officially been 59 years since the opening of the first Kmart store on March 1, 1962, in Garden City, Michigan. As our "K-Day" gift to you, I have posted my Kmart photo "rejects" (or photos of poor quality that never got posted). Enjoy, and have a Happy K-Day!!
1. The "K" on the wall in Walnutport.
I tried many times to capture a photo of this signage. As the area was cordoned off, I wasn't able to get closer for a quality photo. As a result, I had to zoom in on the sign, which leads to many blurry images.
2. The road sign in Shillington
The following photos of the Shillington Kmart's road sign were captured while on the ramp leading up to the parking lot. As there were electrical wires blocking it, this created a few terrible-quality photos.
3. The storefront in Ephrata
I captured this photo on the store's last day, and by the time I realized how terrible it was; it was too late to go back to get another one. This photo wouldn't have been published, had it not been my only photo of the store before its permanent closure.
4. The logo in Elizabethtown
This is pretty self-explanatory. It was so dark, it's almost impossible to make out the Kmart logo on the building.
5. The façade in Cambridge
Like my photo of the Ephrata store, this photo should not have been published as it's so blurry. The only reason it was is that, again, like the Ephrata store, it was my only photo of the store.
