The Lost Files: Sears #1644 - Lancaster, PA *BEFORE CLOSURE*

Image
So, digging through some of my older photos earlier today, I came across a photo of my now-closed local Sears, Lancaster, PA, so I figured I'd post it here. Photo taken March 10, 2019.

Kmart #3810 - Willow Street, PA (Now Abandoned)

Image
Kmart #3810, located at 2600 N. Willow Street Pike in Willow Street, Pennsylvania (a suburb of Lancaster) opened in 1991 and was part of the Kendig Square shopping center. The store anchored the center. The store (and the one in Kingston) closed on April 18, 2021, leaving Pennsylvania without any Kmart stores. This is our final update on Kmart #3810. The signage has remained in place, an extremely different scenario in the same time frame from  #3911 Columbia . The former Little Caesars Thanks for all the memories, Kmart. Kmart #9780 - Shrewsbury, PA

Image
Kmart #9780, located at 98 Forrest Ave in Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania opened on November 10, 1983. It was an extremely small store, only about 58,000 square feet. So it's no surprise that when wally-world opened a store right behind it in 1997 or 1998, it closed in 2000 due to poor sales. Another issue may have been the fact that the store was on a hill, and wasn't visible to people passing by on East Forrest Avenue. The building has been occupied by Grace Fellowship Church since 2012.  First look at the store. The building has been left mostly unaltered since Kmart's exit in 2000. The former Garden Shop, which also remains mostly unchanged. Looking towards the other end of the center. Looking towards the former garden shop. Relocated to 14635 Mount Airy Road in 2003. It still sits vacant, so I figured I'd post my ph...

Kmart in Manhattan has closed.

Well, you have to at least pay SOME of your bills. Signs went up today at NYC’s Astor Place Kmart, former Wanamakers, that today was it. The landlord wants them out, now. Only 17 Kmarts remain. Sad. pic.twitter.com/fm2vzeAt4R — Michael Lisicky (@MichaelLisicky) July 11, 2021
